Product Description

Griswold 811SP Series

The Griswold 811SP Series consists of heavy-duty self-priming centrifugal pumps for demanding industrial process applications. Moreover, the pump combines a corrosion-resistant CD4MCuN self-priming casing with the proven back-end design of the Griswold 811 ANSI Series.

The range delivers flow rates up to 1,300 gpm or 295 m³/hr, heads up to 380 ft or 115 m, and liquid temperatures up to 500°F or 260°C. Therefore, it can support demanding chemical, petroleum and general industrial duties.

Reliable Self-Priming Operation

The Griswold 811SP Series uses a dedicated priming chamber that retains fluid around the impeller. During startup, the pump gradually evacuates air from the suction line and directs it through the discharge.

Consequently, the resulting vacuum raises process liquid through the suction pipe until normal pumping begins. Moreover, the casing retains priming fluid during siphon conditions, which supports dependable restarting.

However, the impeller must remain submerged in liquid during the priming process. Therefore, correct casing filling, suction piping and installation remain essential.

Key Benefits of the Griswold 811SP Series

  • Maximum flow up to 1,300 gpm
  • Maximum head up to 380 ft
  • Maximum temperature up to 500°F
  • CD4MCuN self-priming casing
  • Quick priming and straightforward drainage
  • Fully open, dynamically balanced impeller
  • Rear impeller-clearance adjustment
  • Heavy-duty shaft and bearings
  • Large epoxy-coated oil sump
  • Standard labyrinth bearing seals
  • Oversized oil-level sight glass
  • Magnetic frame drain plug
  • Multiple mechanical-seal options
  • Steel, stainless-steel or composite baseplates
  • Extensive 811 ANSI component interchangeability

Together, these features support reliable operation, long service life and simplified maintenance.

Full 811 ANSI Back-End Interchangeability

The Griswold 811SP Series provides full back-end interchangeability with the Griswold 811 ANSI Series. Therefore, users can access the impeller materials, seal chambers, power frames and back pull-out options available within the standard 811 family.

This commonality can reduce spare-parts inventory and simplify maintenance procedures. Moreover, facilities already operating Griswold 811 ANSI pumps can standardise many components across both pump ranges.

Griswold also states that selected 811SP components are interchangeable with equivalent competitor pump models. Consequently, the series may provide a practical retrofit option for existing process installations.

Fully Open Impeller

The fully open impeller allows the Griswold 811SP Series to handle a broad variety of process liquids. Moreover, rear adjustment enables technicians to restore the impeller clearance without dismantling the complete pump.

Dynamic impeller balancing helps reduce vibration. As a result, the design can support improved bearing and seal life when the pump operates near the correct duty point.

However, fluid characteristics and solids content still influence performance. Therefore, users should confirm the selected impeller material and hydraulic size against the actual process liquid.

Seal and Stuffing-Box Flexibility

Available seal chambers include standard, large-bore and tapered-bore designs. Consequently, engineers can select an arrangement that supports heat dissipation, solids handling, entrapped-air removal and vapour management.

The Griswold 811SP Series also accommodates cartridge seals, component seals and conventional packing. In addition, ASME B73.1 seal-flush and cooling plans are available to improve lubrication, manage emissions and reduce downtime.

Available Pump Sizes

Published hydraulic sizes include:

  • 1.5 × 1-6
  • 1.5 × 1.5-8
  • 2 × 2-10
  • 3 × 3-10
  • 3 × 3-13
  • 4 × 4-10
  • 4 × 4-13
  • 6 × 6-13

Therefore, users can select different flow and head combinations according to the system curve. Moreover, the corresponding ANSI-size relationships simplify comparison with existing process pumps.

Applications in the UAE

The Griswold 811SP Series may suit:

  • Chemical-processing systems
  • Petroleum and oil-handling duties
  • Pharmaceutical production
  • General industrial processes
  • Mining and mineral processing
  • Industrial wastewater transfer
  • Tank unloading systems
  • Process sumps
  • Corrosive-liquid transfer
  • Remote or intermittent pumping stations

For example, a process plant can use the pump where the liquid source is below the pump centreline. Similarly, a CD4MCuN casing can support compatible corrosive-fluid services.

Selecting the Correct Pump

Correct selection depends on:

  • Required flow and total dynamic head
  • Vertical suction lift
  • Available NPSH
  • Liquid temperature and vapour pressure
  • Fluid chemistry and solids
  • Impeller material
  • Seal arrangement
  • Motor speed and power
  • Priming requirements
  • Baseplate and mounting system

Therefore, users should select the Griswold 811SP Series from the complete system curve. Otherwise, excessive suction losses may cause slow priming, cavitation or unstable performance.

Why Choose the Griswold 811SP Series?

The Griswold 811SP Series combines harsh-duty self-priming capability with proven ANSI back-end components. Moreover, its open impeller, corrosion-resistant casing and flexible sealing options support demanding process applications.

Therefore, it is a practical choice for UAE facilities requiring reliable priming, broad interchangeability and straightforward maintenance.
