Product Description

Wilden P400 Bolted Plastic Pump for Chemical Transfer

The Wilden P400 Bolted Plastic Pump is a 38 mm (1½-inch) air-operated double-diaphragm pump developed for corrosive chemicals and demanding industrial liquids.

Its bolted construction supports secure product containment. Moreover, the redesigned liquid path reduces internal friction, which helps improve output and extend diaphragm life.

P400 AODD Pump Flow and Pressure

Maximum flow depends on the selected diaphragm:

  • Rubber: Up to 454 lpm
  • TPE: Up to 454 lpm
  • Full-Stroke PTFE: Up to 424 lpm
  • Reduced-Stroke PTFE: Up to 318 lpm

In addition, maximum discharge pressure reaches 8.6 bar or 125 psi. However, the published maximum flow should not be applied to every configuration because diaphragm type, air supply and system resistance affect actual output.

Key Features of the Pro-Flo Bolted Plastic Pump

  • 38 mm or 1½-inch liquid inlet and discharge
  • 1/2-inch FNPT compressed-air inlet
  • Maximum flow up to 454 lpm
  • Maximum pressure of 8.6 bar
  • Solids passage up to 6.35 mm
  • DIN or ANSI flanged connections
  • Polypropylene or PVDF wetted housings
  • Pro-Flo Air Distribution System
  • Rubber, TPE and PTFE diaphragm options
  • High wet and dry suction lift
  • Secure bolted construction
  • Lube-free pneumatic operation
  • Simplified maintenance
  • Strong on/off reliability

Together, these features make the Wilden P400 Bolted Plastic Pump suitable for chemical transfer, tank unloading, circulation and compatible solids-containing liquids.

Pro-Flo P400 Air Distribution System

The Pro-Flo Air Distribution System uses a simplified pneumatic design with only three moving parts. Consequently, the P400 AODD pump supports reliable cycling and straightforward repair.

Moreover, the plastic centre block operates without external airline lubrication. Therefore, facilities can reduce lubricator maintenance and avoid introducing lubricant into the compressed-air exhaust.

In addition, the system contains no electronic operating components. As a result, it provides simple plug-and-play operation across varied industrial applications.

Wilden P400 Polypropylene and PVDF Construction

The Wilden P400 Bolted Plastic Pump is officially available with polypropylene or PVDF wetted housings.

Polypropylene supports many compatible acids, alkalis and general process chemicals. Alternatively, PVDF offers different corrosion-resistance properties for selected aggressive liquids.

However, neither material is compatible with every chemical. Therefore, users should verify the concentration, temperature and complete chemical composition before ordering the P400 chemical pump.

P400 Chemical Pump Diaphragm Options

The P400 plastic diaphragm pump supports rubber, TPE, Full-Stroke PTFE and Reduced-Stroke PTFE configurations.

Moreover, available elastomer materials include:

  • Buna-N
  • EPDM
  • FKM
  • Geolast
  • Neoprene
  • PTFE
  • Polyurethane
  • Saniflex
  • Wil-Flex

Each material has different chemical, abrasion and temperature limits. Consequently, the diaphragms, valve balls, valve seats and seals should all match the process liquid.

Flanged P400 AODD Pump Connections

The Wilden P400 pump uses 1½-inch DIN or ANSI flanged inlet and discharge connections. Therefore, it integrates with industrial chemical-processing pipelines that require secure flanged assembly.

Moreover, flanges provide stable pipe attachment and reliable alignment. However, users should confirm the flange standard, gasket material and pipe arrangement before installation.

P400 Plastic Pump Solids Handling

The P400 bolted plastic pump passes compatible solids up to 6.35 mm or ¼ inch.

As a result, it can transfer selected liquids containing suspended particles. Nevertheless, particle shape, concentration and abrasiveness may affect valve and diaphragm life. Therefore, the complete liquid composition should be reviewed during selection.

Wilden Chemical Pump Suction Performance

Maximum published dry suction lift reaches approximately 5.7 metres, depending on the diaphragm. Meanwhile, wet suction lift reaches up to approximately 9.7 metres.

However, actual suction performance also depends on viscosity, inlet-pipe resistance, elevation, pump speed and available compressed-air volume. Consequently, the complete suction system must be considered rather than pump capability alone.

Wilden P400 Bolted Plastic Pump Applications

The Wilden P400 Bolted Plastic Pump may support:

  • Chemical processing
  • Acid and caustic transfer
  • Paints and coatings
  • Water and wastewater treatment
  • Mining operations
  • Oil and gas support duties
  • Liquid terminals
  • Tank and tanker unloading
  • Industrial scrubber systems
  • Adhesives and sealants
  • Corrosive wastewater
  • General process transfer

For example, a polypropylene configuration may suit compatible general chemical duties. Alternatively, a PVDF model may support selected aggressive fluids after a complete chemical-compatibility review. Wilden identifies Pro-Flo pumps for chemical, coatings, mining, oil and gas, wastewater, terminal and process applications.

Selecting a Wilden P400 Pump

Correct selection depends on:

  • Required flow and pressure
  • Chemical name and concentration
  • Operating temperature
  • Liquid viscosity
  • Solids size and concentration
  • Polypropylene or PVDF housing
  • Diaphragm and valve materials
  • Suction conditions
  • Available compressed-air supply
  • DIN or ANSI flange requirements

Therefore, users should configure the Wilden P400 Bolted Plastic Pump around the complete hydraulic and chemical duty. Otherwise, incompatible materials or insufficient air capacity may reduce flow, efficiency and component life.
