K Series by Valiadis

The K Series by Valiadis consists of three-phase asynchronous motors with durable squirrel-cage rotors and heavy-duty cast-iron housings. Therefore, the range provides dependable mechanical power for pumps, compressors, fans, conveyors and other continuously operated machinery.

The overall technical catalogue covers IEC frame sizes 80 to 560. Moreover, published configurations extend from approximately 0.18 to 1,250 kW, depending on motor speed, pole count and frame size.

Durable Squirrel-Cage Motor Design

The squirrel-cage rotor has no brushes or slip rings in its standard construction. Consequently, the motor provides a mechanically straightforward and low-maintenance drive solution.

Meanwhile, the cast-iron housing protects and supports the stator, rotor, bearings and shaft. As a result, the K Series suits demanding installations where mechanical strength and stable continuous-duty operation are important.

IE3, IE4 and IE5 Efficiency Options

Valiadis publishes separate K Series catalogues for IE3, IE4 and IE5 motor configurations. These efficiency-specific ranges cover IEC frame sizes 80 to 355 and include 2-, 4-, 6- and 8-pole options, depending on the required efficiency class and power rating.

Therefore, users can select an efficiency level according to operating hours, energy targets and project requirements.

For example, a continuously operated pump may achieve meaningful lifecycle savings with a higher-efficiency motor. Similarly, fans and compressors can reduce electrical losses when engineers correctly match the motor to the load.

However, the highest efficiency class is not automatically the correct option for every application. Consequently, users should also consider starting torque, operating speed, drive control and purchase cost.

Standard Electrical Configuration

The standard 50 Hz catalogue lists:

  • Up to 3 kW: 380–420 / 220–240 V Y/Δ
  • From 4 kW: 660–725 / 380–420 V Y/Δ

Therefore, the selected star or delta connection must match the site supply and starting arrangement.

Protection and Thermal Management

The K Series includes IP55 protection as standard. Consequently, the enclosure provides protection against harmful dust ingress and water jets within the limits of the IP rating.

In addition, Class F insulation and PTC winding sensors support thermal protection. Therefore, compatible motor-control equipment can respond if the winding temperature rises beyond a safe level.

Bearings and Shaft Protection

Valiadis uses SKF or NSK bearings in standard K Series configurations. Moreover, motors from frame size 160 upwards use regreasable bearings.

Standard oil seals are fitted at both the drive and non-drive ends. Consequently, they help protect the bearing areas against normal industrial contamination.

Nevertheless, maintenance teams should follow the specified lubrication schedule. Otherwise, excessive or insufficient grease may reduce bearing life.
