Product Description
Toyo DP Slurry Pumps
The Toyo DP Slurry Pumps provide extra-heavy-duty submersible pumping for sand, gravel, rock and dense abrasive slurry. Toyo developed the range for demanding mining, dredging and industrial sediment-removal applications.
The patented agitator loosens settled material before the closed impeller draws it into the pump. Therefore, the unit combines slurry pumping with active sediment excavation around the inlet.
Heavy-Duty DP Pump Design
Each DP pump combines a closed impeller with large open passages for compatible solids. Consequently, sand, gravel and rock particles can travel through the hydraulic casing with fewer restrictions.
A short, strong shaft and heavy-duty bearings support the rotating assembly. As a result, the pump withstands changing loads while handling dense, abrasive slurry.

Toyo DP Slurry Pumps Performance
The DP range provides capacities up to approximately 720 m³/h. Moreover, suitable configurations can transport slurry containing up to 70% solids by weight.
Toyo positions these pumps for slurry densities of approximately 1.35 kg/dm³ and above. However, these values represent range-wide limits. Therefore, engineers must select the exact model from its hydraulic curve, motor output and solids-passage data.
Patented Agitator in Toyo DP Slurry Pumps
The agitator mounts directly on the pump shaft. During operation, it loosens compacted sand, sediment, gravel and process residue around the inlet.
Consequently, it creates a more uniform, pumpable mixture and may reduce manual sump excavation. Nevertheless, users must identify particle size, hardness, shape and concentration before selection.
Closed Impeller and Large Passages
The closed impeller develops the hydraulic force needed to move dense slurry. Meanwhile, large internal passages allow compatible solids to move through the pump.
As a result, the DP design handles materials that could obstruct conventional dewatering pumps. However, physical passage size alone does not confirm suitability for every particle.
High-Chrome Wear Components
Toyo manufactures the impeller, wear plates and agitator from cast chrome iron containing approximately 24% to 28% chromium.
Therefore, these parts resist abrasion from sand, gravel, minerals and rock particles. DP10 and smaller pumps use one adjustable wear plate, while larger models generally use two. Correct adjustment helps preserve hydraulic efficiency.
Motor, Shaft and Seal Protection
The Toyo DP Slurry Pumps use custom low-speed motors with a 1.35 service factor. Their design produces substantial torque for heavy slurry transfer.
A strong shaft and carefully selected bearings support the impeller and agitator. Meanwhile, mechanical seals operate inside an oil bath, which lubricates and cools the sealing faces.
Solids Handling by Toyo DP Slurry Pumps
Selected configurations can pass compatible particles up to approximately 120 mm and may handle slurry containing up to 70% solids by weight.
However, these maximum values do not apply simultaneously to every model. Particle hardness, shape and settling behaviour also influence performance and wear. Therefore, users should provide representative slurry information during selection.
Toyo DP Slurry Pumps Operating Limits
Published series-wide limits include:
- Maximum capacity: Up to 720 m³/h
- Slurry density: Approximately 1.35 kg/dm³ or higher
- Solids concentration: Up to 70% by weight
- Maximum particle size: Up to 120 mm
- Standard slurry temperature: Up to 60°C
- Permitted pH range: 4–14
- Standard operating depth: Up to 30 metres
- Special operating depth: Up to 120 metres
- High-temperature version: Up to 80°C
However, special depth and temperature limits require the correct motor, cable, seals and pressure-resistant construction.
Deep-Water and Material Options
Standard DP pumps operate at depths up to 30 metres. Alternatively, special configurations can operate at depths up to approximately 120 metres.
Toyo can also supply different metallurgies, including stainless steel. Therefore, engineers can match materials to abrasion and chemical conditions.
Mining, Dredging and Slurry Applications
The Toyo DP Slurry Pumps may support:
- Mining and mineral processing
- Dredging and harbour works
- Sand and gravel extraction
- Quarry slurry transfer
- Tailings and process residue
- Construction-pit cleaning
- Industrial sump excavation
- Settling-basin cleaning
- Lagoon and tank clean-out
- Abrasive sediment transfer
Choosing the Correct Toyo DP Slurry Pumps
Correct selection depends on required flow, total head, slurry density, solids percentage and maximum particle size.
Engineers should also confirm temperature, pH, abrasion level, operating depth, motor supply and installation arrangement. Therefore, specialists must use model-specific hydraulic and dimensional data.
