Product Description

Pulsatron Series MP Metering Pump

The Pulsatron Series MP metering pump delivers precise and programmable chemical dosing. Moreover, its microprocessor-based controls provide greater flexibility than standard manual dosing pumps.

The pump accepts fully scalable 4–20 mA and reverse 20–4 mA signals. Therefore, it can automatically adjust its dosing rate according to changing process conditions.

In addition, the large backlit LCD display simplifies setup, programming and daily operation.

Microprocessor-Controlled Chemical Dosing

The Pulsatron Series MP uses a microprocessor to manage pump operation. Consequently, it provides accurate control across a wide operating range.

Operators can use the pump in manual or automatic modes. For example, an external controller can adjust the dosing rate according to flow, conductivity, pH or another process measurement.

The pump also supports external pacing and stop functions. Therefore, it can integrate with water meters, PLC systems and process controllers.

Key Benefits of the Pulsatron Series MP

The Pulsatron MP diaphragm pump offers several operational benefits:

  • Microprocessor-controlled chemical dosing
  • Fully scalable 4–20 mA input
  • Reverse 20–4 mA input capability
  • Optional 4–20 mA output signal
  • External pacing with stop function
  • Flow verification on selected models
  • Flow totalisation
  • Programmable timed sequences
  • Pulse multiplication and division
  • Standard low-level input capability
  • Multiple alarm functions
  • Relay output options
  • Large backlit LCD display
  • Plain-language operating prompts
  • Four selectable display languages
  • Wide 1000:1 turndown ratio
  • Chemical-resistant material options

As a result, the Series MP can support both standalone and fully automated dosing systems.

Flow and Pressure Performance

The Pulsatron Series MP offers a broad performance range.

Available specifications include:

  • Flow capacity: 0.5 to 79.5 litres per hour
  • Daily capacity: 3 to 504 gallons per day
  • Hourly capacity: 0.13 to 21 gallons per hour
  • Maximum pressure: 1.3 to 21 bar
  • Maximum pressure in PSI: 20 to 300 PSI
  • Overall turndown ratio: Up to 1000:1
  • Maximum stroke frequency: 125 strokes per minute
  • Metering reproducibility: Within ±2% of maximum capacity

However, higher-flow models operate at lower maximum pressures. Therefore, users should consider both flow and discharge pressure during pump selection.

Automatic Process Control

Fully Scalable 4–20 mA Input

The Series MP accepts a fully scalable 4–20 mA signal. As a result, the pump can follow changing process conditions automatically.

It can respond to measurements such as:

  • Flow rate
  • Conductivity
  • pH level
  • Chlorine demand
  • Tank level
  • Production rate
  • Water consumption

The pump also supports reverse 20–4 mA control. Therefore, users can configure the response to match their automation strategy.

Optional 4–20 mA Output

The optional 4–20 mA output provides remote pump-speed indication. Consequently, operators can monitor pump response and estimate chemical consumption.

The output can also support integration with monitoring equipment, secondary pumps and process-control systems.

Pulse Control and Timed Dosing

The Pulsatron MP can receive pulse signals from water meters and external controllers.

Operators can multiply or divide incoming pulses from 1 to 999. Therefore, they can match chemical dosing to the required process ratio.

The external stop function also allows another device to stop the pump when the process shuts down.

Moreover, the Series MP supports programmable timed sequences. Operators can set selected run intervals and dosing rates for repetitive treatment processes.

Flow Verification and Monitoring

Selected Series MP models support flow verification. This feature monitors pump output and warns operators when the pump does not deliver the expected chemical flow.

The pump also provides flow totalisation. Therefore, users can track the estimated chemical volume delivered over time.

Available Alarm Functions

  • Input signal loss
  • Full-count condition
  • Circuit failure
  • Pulse overflow
  • High pulse rate
  • Low chemical level through an external sensor

Relay output options can also connect the pump to an alarm system or computer interface.

Multilingual LCD Display

The large backlit LCD screen improves visibility in industrial environments. Moreover, plain-language prompts simplify programming.

Supported Languages

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish

Available Flow-Rate Units

  • Litres per hour
  • Gallons per hour
  • Gallons per day

Therefore, the pump can support both regional and international operating standards.

Chemical-Resistant Material Options

Available liquid-end materials may include:

  • Glass-filled polypropylene
  • PVC
  • PVDF
  • 316 stainless steel
  • Ceramic valve balls
  • PTFE valve components
  • Alloy C valve balls
  • CSPE or Viton seals
  • PTFE-faced diaphragm construction

Consequently, users can configure the pump for many industrial chemicals. However, always confirm chemical compatibility before ordering.

Standard configurations can handle viscosities up to 1,000 cPs. In addition, selected valve and connection options may handle viscosities up to 3,000 cPs.
