Product Description

Griswold 850 Series

The Griswold 850 Series is a versatile line of single-stage, end-suction centrifugal pumps for clean-water and general water-service applications. Moreover, the range is available in close-coupled and frame-mounted configurations, allowing users to match the pump with different motors, drivers and installation layouts.

The series delivers capacities up to 3,850 gpm or 874 m³/hr, heads up to 430 ft or 131 m, and liquid temperatures up to 120°F or 49°C. Therefore, it can support both moderate and high-capacity water systems.

Efficient Water-Pumping Performance

The 850 Series uses a single-piece enclosed aluminium-bronze impeller. Consequently, the hydraulic design supports efficient flow while providing durability and corrosion resistance, particularly in chlorinated-water applications.

Moreover, each impeller is precision balanced and trimmed for the selected duty point. As a result, users can obtain stable operation when the pump is correctly sized near its best efficiency region.

Unlike the Griswold H Series, the 850 Series is not presented as a self-priming range. Therefore, the installation should provide suitable priming and suction conditions.

Key Benefits

  • Maximum flow up to 3,850 gpm
  • Maximum head up to 430 ft
  • Maximum liquid temperature of 120°F
  • Heavy-duty iron casing
  • Aluminium-bronze enclosed impeller
  • Renewable lead-free bronze wear rings
  • Renewable bronze shaft sleeve
  • Back pull-out construction
  • Close-coupled and frame-mounted versions
  • ASME B16.1 flanged connections
  • Mechanical shaft-seal options
  • NSF/ANSI 50 and NSF/ANSI 61 certifications
  • Optional internal or external epoxy coating
  • Baseplate and alternative driver options

Together, these features support efficient operation, simplified maintenance and long equipment life.

Back Pull-Out Maintenance

The pump uses a back pull-out design. Therefore, technicians can remove the rotating assembly without disturbing the casing or connected piping.

Consequently, seal, shaft, impeller and bearing work can be completed more efficiently. Moreover, reduced dismantling can shorten maintenance time and limit disruption to the piping system.

Close-Coupled and Frame-Mounted Options

Close-coupled models connect directly to NEMA JM or JP electric motors. As a result, the short shaft overhang helps reduce radial stress on motor bearings while also creating a compact package.

Alternatively, frame-mounted pumps can connect through flexible couplings to electric motors, engines, steam turbines or belt drives. Therefore, this arrangement suits projects requiring greater driver flexibility or heavy-duty bearing support.

In addition, pre-engineered steel baseplates are available to reduce stress and vibration. Consequently, correct baseplate selection can support alignment and extend maintenance intervals.

Construction and Corrosion Protection

The standard liquid path combines an iron casing with aluminium-bronze components. Moreover, renewable lead-free bronze wear rings help restore internal clearances without replacing major castings.

The renewable shaft sleeve also protects the shaft from abrasion and contact with the pumped liquid. Therefore, routine wear can often be addressed by replacing service components rather than the complete shaft.

For more corrosive conditions, Griswold offers optional 3M™ Scotchkote™ 134 fusion-bonded epoxy on internal and/or external surfaces.

NSF-Certified Water Applications

The 850 Series is engineered to meet NSF/ANSI Standard 50 and NSF/ANSI Standard 61. Therefore, suitable configurations can support recreational-water circulation as well as drinking-water and drinking-water-chemical applications.

For example, NSF 50 configurations suit commercial swimming pools, spas, hot tubs and water parks. Meanwhile, NSF 61 configurations support potable-water systems where the specified pump construction and certification are required.

Applications in the UAE

The Griswold 850 Series may suit:

  • Commercial swimming pools
  • Water parks and aquatic facilities
  • Decorative water features
  • Potable-water systems
  • Irrigation networks
  • Industrial water services
  • Cooling-water circulation
  • General water transfer
  • Filtration systems
  • Commercial building services

For example, a water park can use a high-flow model for circulation. Similarly, an industrial facility can use a frame-mounted unit for cooling-water or process-water transfer.

Selecting the Correct 850 Series Pump

Correct selection depends on:

  • Required flow rate
  • Total dynamic head
  • Liquid temperature
  • Suction conditions
  • Pump speed
  • Motor or driver type
  • Seal requirements
  • Certification requirements
  • Corrosion-protection needs
  • Installation arrangement

Therefore, users should select the pump from the actual system curve rather than pipe size alone. Otherwise, the pump may operate away from its efficient region, causing vibration, recirculation or increased energy use.
