Product Description
FTI AC Series Stainless-Steel Centrifugal Pumps
The FTI AC Series consists of horizontal, mechanically sealed centrifugal pumps designed for demanding industrial and chemical-processing applications. Its 316 stainless-steel wetted construction provides strong corrosion resistance for compatible chemicals, solvents, food ingredients and process liquids.
The complete range includes AC4, AC5, AC5H, AC5R, AC6, AC6H, AC8 and AC8H models. Depending on the selected pump, maximum performance reaches 73 m³/h of flow and 80.2 metres of head.
AC Series Sealed Centrifugal Pump Design
The pumps use a horizontal, close-coupled arrangement that connects the pump directly to a NEMA or IEC motor frame. Therefore, the complete package requires less installation space than many separately coupled pump systems.
Moreover, the close-coupled design removes the need for field coupling alignment. Consequently, installation and routine servicing can be simpler.
Key Features of FTI AC Series Pumps

- Back pull-out maintenance design
- NPT, BSP, flange and Tri-Clamp connections
- NEMA and IEC motor-frame compatibility
- FDA-compliant material options
- ATEX certification options
- Secure V-clamp or bolted housing construction
Together, these characteristics allow the FTI AC Series to cover general transfer, high-head and limited-solids applications.
Standard, Recessed and High-Head AC Pumps
Standard impellers provide balanced flow and head for general process-transfer duties.
Alternatively, recessed impellers suit compatible liquids containing limited solids or particles because the impeller sits farther from the primary liquid path.
High-head models, including the AC5H, AC6H and AC8H, provide greater discharge pressure for systems with long piping, elevation changes or increased resistance. Therefore, users can select the hydraulic arrangement according to the complete system curve rather than pump size alone.
316 Stainless-Steel Chemical Pump Construction
The FTI AC Series uses 316 stainless steel for the principal wetted pump components. Consequently, the range provides durable metallic construction for many compatible corrosive and high-temperature fluids.
However, stainless steel is not compatible with every chemical. Therefore, users must verify the liquid concentration, temperature and possible contamination before selecting the pump.
Mechanical-Seal and O-Ring Options
The range provides multiple mechanical-seal combinations for different chemicals and operating conditions.
Available seal and elastomer materials include:
- Carbon
- Ceramic
- Silicon carbide
- FKM
- EPDM
- Buna
- Kalrez
- PTFE-encapsulated materials
For example, the AC6H uses a Type 21 bellows mechanical seal. Moreover, available O-rings include FKM, EPDM, Buna and PTFE-encapsulated silicone. Consequently, the pump can be configured around chemical compatibility and temperature requirements.
AC Series Flow, Head and Pressure Range
Maximum published series performance includes:
- Maximum flow: 321 gpm or 73 m³/h
- Maximum head: 263 ft or 80.2 m
- Working pressure: Up to 6.9 bar on AC4–AC6 models
- Working pressure: Up to 8.3 bar on AC8 models
- Maximum temperature: 149°C
- Maximum specific gravity: 1.8
However, these values represent different models within the complete range. Therefore, users should not apply every maximum specification to one pump configuration.
Back Pull-Out Pump Maintenance
The FTI AC Series uses a back pull-out arrangement. Therefore, technicians can access the rotating assembly and mechanical seal without disturbing the main pump casing or connected pipework.
Moreover, most models use a secure V-clamp housing connection, while AC8 models use bolted housing construction. As a result, planned inspection and component replacement can require less system dismantling.
Connection and Motor Options
Available process connections include:
- NPT threaded
- BSP threaded
- ANSI or DIN flange options
- Sanitary Tri-Clamp connections
The pumps also mount to compatible NEMA or IEC motor frames. Therefore, engineers can select the motor voltage, frequency, enclosure and efficiency class according to the UAE installation.
FDA-Compliant Stainless-Steel Pumps
Selected AC configurations are available with FDA-compliant wetted materials. Consequently, suitable pumps may support food, beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetic processes.
However, FDA-compatible materials do not automatically make the entire installation sanitary. Hoses, piping, seals, cleaning procedures and process connections must also meet the facility’s hygiene requirements.
UAE Applications for Finish Thompson AC Pumps
The FTI AC Series may support:
- Chemical processing
- Food and beverage production
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Breweries
- Metalworking
- Municipal infrastructure
- Wastewater treatment
- Equipment manufacturing
- Industrial cleaning systems
- High-temperature fluid transfer
- Solvent and chemical circulation
- General industrial processing
Finish Thompson identifies sealed pumps for metalworking, food processing, breweries, pharmaceuticals, municipal facilities, landfills and general industry.
Selecting the Correct AC Series Pump
Correct selection depends on:
- Required flow and total head
- Liquid composition
- Temperature and viscosity
- Specific gravity
- Solids content
- Mechanical-seal materials
- Connection standard
- Motor supply and speed
- Required certification
- Available NPSH
Therefore, users should configure the FTI AC Series around the actual system duty. Otherwise, unsuitable materials or an incorrect operating point may cause leakage, cavitation, poor efficiency or premature component wear.
Why Choose Finish Thompson AC Pumps?
Finish Thompson AC pumps combine corrosion-resistant stainless-steel construction with broad hydraulic, sealing and connection options.
Moreover, the close-coupled and back pull-out design supports compact installation and easier maintenance. As a result, the range provides a dependable solution for UAE facilities requiring durable mechanically sealed centrifugal pumps.
